Endorsements Guidelines

Obtaining endorsements is the responsibility of the author or editor.

Peter Lang can assist by providing a clean manuscript or clean typeset proof on request, so you - the author or editor - can share this with prospective endorsers. 

Who can you ask for an endorsement? 

You can request endorsements from well-known or authoritative individuals (usually academics) in your field. 

When can you ask for endorsements? 

You can either provide your final copy-edited and approved manuscript to endorsers, or you can send first typeset proofs.

Your Publishing Assistant can provide a clean version of the manuscript for this purpose once you have approved the copy-edited manuscript for typesetting.  

How long can an endorsement be? 

Endorsements may be up to 50 words long. Please state this word limit when you approach endorsers.

If you receive longer endorsements, please decide which sentence or two is most relevant and useful for inclusion on the back cover and extract or highlight these accordingly when you supply them to us.

Longer endorsements may be included in full right at the start of the book. 

Where do endorsements appear? 

Provided they don't exceed the word limit, we can include short endorsements (or extracts from longer endorsements) on the back cover.

When does Peter Lang require endorsements? 

Ideally endorsements should be provided by the time you return your comments on the first typeset proofs.
